Our Itinerary

Day 1 Monday, November 5, 2018 | Depart USA

Depart the USA on overnight flights to Milan, Italy. 

 

Day 2 Tuesday, November 6, 2018 | Milan 

Arrive in Milan, meet your Italian escort, and depart by private motorcoach for a panoramic tour of Milan (pending group arrival time). Celebrate a private Mass. Check into the hotel before enjoying a Welcome Dinner hosted by the women of WINE. Overnight in Milan. (D) 

 

Day 3 Wednesday, November 7, 2018 | Magenta | Mesero 

Today meet the family of St. Gianna Molla, a saint of heroic virtue and genuine holiness who gave her life for her daughter. Experience the life and virtues of St. Gianna through with one of her daughters, Gianna Emanuela. Visit the village of Mesero where St. Gianna practiced medicine and was laid to rest just 55 years ago. Special prayers at the tomb of St. Gianna before visiting her office where she cared for her patients. Celebrate Mass at the Shrine dedicated to St. Gianna, a beautiful 13th century church recently renovated and established by the diocese of Milan as a Shrine to the Family and dedicated to St. Gianna. Visit Ponto Nuovo where St. Gianna lived after her marriage. See the house where she lived the last years of her life and where she died. A few paces from the house we will visit the little chapel of Our Lady of Good Counsel where St. Gianna’s four children were baptized and where she attended Mass daily. Return to Milan for dinner on your own and overnight. (CB) 

 

Day 4 Thursday, November 8, 2018 | Duomo 

Celebrate Mass this morning, then depart for the foothills of the Alps to the resort area of Lake Como. This afternoon, you will have the opportunity to visit the town of Bellagio famously called “the pearl of the lake” for its architecture and landscapes, narrow streets, small squares and charming houses. Take in the beautiful scenery while enjoying a local wine-tasting. Return to Milan and visit the 4th largest church in the world. In the crypt see where St. Ambrose baptized the great St. Augustine of Hippo and pray at the tomb of St. Charles Borromeo. This evening, there will be free time to explore the famous Galleria. Dinner on your own. Overnight in Milan. (CB|WT) 

 

Day 5 Friday, November 9, 2018 | Bologna | Florence 

After breakfast, depart from Milan for Florence. En route, stop in Bologna to celebrate Mass and venerate the relics of St. Anne, Mary’s mother. Then, pray at the tomb of St. Dominic, founder of the Dominican Order. Enjoy the afternoon with lunch on your own in the gastronomic city. Continue to Florence for hotel check-in. Dinner and overnight in Florence. (CB|D) 

 

Day 6 Saturday, November 10, 2018 | Florence 

Begin the day with a Mass at the Duomo (Cathedral) – Saint Mary of the Little Flowers. Then, take a guided walking tour of Florence starting at the Duomo, Baptistry Doors, Signoria Square (the “open-air-museum”) and Santa Croce with the tombs of Michelangelo, Galileo, and Rossini. The last stop will be the Academia Gallery to see Michelangelo’s world famous statue of David. Spend the remainder of the evening shopping on the Ponte Vecchio Bridge and enjoying dinner on your own. Overnight in Florence. (CB) 

 

Day 7 Sunday, November 11, 2018 | Siena | Rome 

After breakfast, check out of the hotel and depart for Rome. En route, visit the medieval walled city of Siena. Upon arrival, celebrate Mass. Then, visit the home of St. Catherine and the Basilica of St. Domenico, site of the relic of St. Catherine. Lunch on your own. Finally, arrive in Rome for hotel check-in. Before dinner, visit the Church of St. Cecelia in Trestevere to pray Vespers with the Carmelite Sisters (pending arrival time). Dinner and overnight in Rome. (CB|D) 

 

Day 8 Monday, November 12, 2018 | St. Peter’s Basilica | Scavi Female Saints Walking Tour 

This morning, celebrate Mass at St. Peter’s Basilica, with time to tour the magnificent church. Then, visit the Scavi excavations beneath St. Peter's Basilica, which ends at the tomb of St. Peter (pending confirmation). After lunch on your own, depart for a sightseeing tour of the female saints in Rome. Begin at the Church of St. Augustine and venerate the tomb of St. Monica, then arrive at Piazza Navona to visit the Church of St. Agnes and finally, the Church of S. Maria Sopra Minerva, the resting place of St. Catherine of Siena. Dinner on your own. Overnight in Rome. (CB) 

 

Day 9 Tuesday, November 13, 2018 | Vatican Museums | Farewell Dinner 

This morning, celebrate Mass. Then visit the Vatican Museums and the Sistine Chapel, where you will view some of the most inspiring works of art, including Michelangelo's magnificent fresco of the Last Judgment. Tour St. Peter's and see Michelangelo's masterpiece, the Pieta. After lunch on your own, a possible visit to the convent where St. Teresa of Calcutta lived (pending confirmation). Conclude the end of the pilgrimage with a special Farewell Dinner. Overnight in Rome. (CB|D) 

 

Day 10 Wednesday, November 14, 2018 | Rome | USA 

This morning transfer available to the Rome Airport (FCO) for optional group return flights home.
